One of our most important
priorities is to protect the environment. That is why we continually
look for new ways to reduce waste, improve efficiency and promote
“clean manufacturing.” We buy only recycled aluminum
for use in our castings. We also have developed an in-house recycling
system that takes scrap aluminum from the manufacturing process
and melts, purifies and recycles it for use in new castings.
Perhaps most important is our sand reclamation
process. Rather than send used sand from our casting operation to
a landfill, we use an in-house reclamation process that collects,
bakes and purifies sand for reuse in new molds. Each year, this
allows us to recycle more than 36,000 tons, or 90 percent, of the
sand we use.

While we’re
committed to preserving our environment and don’t do
it for the accolades, we do appreciate being recognized for
our hard work now and again.
The International Standardization
Organization (ISO) has awarded Bodine the ISO 14001 environmental
certification. The ISO is a worldwide federation of national
standards groups from 100 countries that certifies organizations.
The 14001 standard refers to a company’s ability to
meet specific requirements for managing and reducing environmental
impact. Of approximately 3,000 foundries across the United
States, only about 1% has achieved this certification. Bodine
Aluminum is proud to be one of them. |
